Traffic in Asia is a little different than it is back home. The rules here are simple: whoever is bigger has the right-of-way. Buses always win, then trucks, cars, scooters, and in last place, pedestrians. My teammate was quite shocked the other day when a truck came barreling past us at around 40 mph while passing another car on a backstreet. It was a one lane street and he came within just a few of inches of ending my trip early! Apparently the truck had the right of way and I didn't notice him coming up from behind us! My bad.
Every day as you step out on the street you put your life in the hands of thousands of strangers as they whiz past in one near miss after another. Oh how I've missed China!
